Calgary's Opportunity for Local Refill Products

Calgary is a city of small businesses. Restaurants, salons, cleaning companies, schools, mosques, daycares, and Airbnb hosts all consume cleaning products at high volume — and most of them buy from large national distributors.

That creates a clear opening. A local refill brand can offer the same product quality at a comparable price, with faster restock times and a lower environmental footprint.

On the workforce side, Calgary has a growing senior population and a youth job market that is still recovering. A refill model that builds in flexible, task-based roles for both groups is a fit for the city, not against it.

Our Phase 1 pilot focuses on three high-demand products: multipurpose cleaner, floor cleaner, and dishwashing liquid. Phases 2 and 3 will expand the catalogue and the geography across Alberta.
